E-Mail Problems: Automatically notify people they have a virus and delete the mail.

URGENT: Virus Blocking Information!
Dear user,
There are several viruses out in the past week or two
effecting web site reliability and your productivity. The web site reliability
issue BitShop has resolved for you by having all necessary patches on our web
servers. However..
There are a few e-mail viruses spreading. At the end
of this bulletin we have a link to remove the sircam worm. We want to stress the
following:
1)
Do not open attachments from users you don’t recognize
2)
This virus is sending mail from users you DO recognize, however the
attachment has a few extensions – If the icon of the attachment does not match
the file type noted then this may be a virus. Always be SUPER careful opening
attachments from e-mail.
3)
If you notice a new virus coming to you with a certain message in the
body you can set up a “Rule” in Outlook or Outlook Express to automatically
reply and delete the mail (See below).
4)
You should never open an attachment you weren't expecting from a user - Most
e-mail viruses spread through attachments and they can be very dangerous.
To configure a rule in Outlook Express (Outlook is almost
identical):
1)
Open Outlook Express
2)
Hit “New Message”
a.
Subject: ** VIRUS ALERT **
b.
Body (suggested): I have received your e-mail, however it has been
deleted due to potentially having a virus. This was triggered by the phrase
“______”, if this e-mail needs to be read by me please resend removing or
rephrasing those words….
c.
NOTE: The to line is blank.
d.
Go to File – Save As – Type in VirusAlert as the filename.
e.
Hit Escape to close the message
3)
Go to Tools – Message Rules – Mail
a.
Check “Where the message body contains specific words”
b.
Action: Check “Delete it” and check “Reply with Message”
c.
Where the blue “Contains Specific Words” is click on that. In the box
enter the EXACT wording that you are sure is this virus. BE CAREFUL – Any
messages with this wording in them will be deleted!
d.
Where the blue “message” is click on that. In the box select your
VirusAlert e-mail file.
e.
Name the rule: ** VIRUS ALERT : <Message> **
This will now auto reply and automatically delete any
potentially infected e-mails. Of course you are welcome to change the body text
to meet your needs.
ALTERNATIVELY: You may block that sender; however if the
sender tries to notify you they have fixed the problem they will continue to be
blocked.
